Module 5 of 5
By the end of this module you will have named one thing you are carrying and written one specific question to bring to your next medical appointment.

What to bring, what to ask, and how to keep the conversation on the thing you actually came in for.
What this module covers
Most of us learned to associate the doctor’s office with something being wrong. Over time that builds a patient identity — a version of yourself that feels separate from your real life. And when clinical advice does not connect to the texture of that real life, it does not get followed. Doctors sometimes call that noncompliance. It is better understood as a gap, and closing it is what this whole course has been for.
This module covers the physical cost of what you carry emotionally — including patients at our clinic whose A1C moves with what is happening in their lives rather than with their diet or their medication. Their doctor sees the number. From where I sit, I see the person walking in and out of the building every three months.
It includes the most personal story in the course: opening a board exam result on a final permitted attempt, with expulsion on the other side of a fail, and what the word PASS actually felt like. Restoration is not the absence of struggle. It is the moment the struggle stops defining you.
It closes on becoming an active participant. Your doctor brings an algorithm. You bring your map — the vision, the signals, the habits, the healed self. Walking in with both is what it means to talk with your doctor rather than being talked at.
Three takeaways
- What you carry emotionally, you carry physically. That is biology, not weakness, and it is something you can act on.
- Resentment is proof of love. You cannot resent something you never cared about, which changes what the hurt means.
- Your doctor has ten or twenty minutes a few times a year. You have every moment of every day. You are the world’s leading expert on your own life.
Doing this with someone
The worksheet is yours to keep and it works on its own. If you want a second set of eyes on it — this is the one people rehearse before they use it, and rehearsing it is where the confidence comes from — that is what the coaching is for. See how coaching works.
